Government Final Exams Proctored Exam

  1. Final exams for security training are administered through the Province of Alberta.
  2. Participants must achieve a passing grade of 80% or higher.  Results will be emailed to the student within 1 week of completion of exam. 
  3. Training certificates will be issued and mailed to individuals by the Province within 1 week of completion of the final exam.

Tips for taking the exam are as follows;

Three very important things that can help you to learn better and take care of yourself are:

  1. Get a good night's sleep as it's hard to learn when you're tired.
  2. Eat healthy foods and stay hydrated - the healthier you are, the better everything works including your brain.
  3. Exercise even a walk around the block can help to clear your head and prepare you for studying, or give you a break while studying.

When deciding which is the correct answer in a multiple choice test:  

  • Try to answer the question before looking at the choices.
  • Read all the choices carefully one answer may be so-so but another may be better.
  • Get rid of the choices that you know are wrong then guess between the others.
  • If you are not sure which answer is right, read the stem with each option and ask, is this true or false?

Ensure you manage your time:

  • Arrive early to give yourself time to relax and get settled in. Rushing into an exam can result in making rushed choices.

Ensure you follow directions carefully:

  • Listen carefully to any oral directions given by the examiner.
  • Read all directions carefully take note of important points.
  • If something is not clear, ask about it.
  • Read the exam.
  • Read the answer questions then begin answering the questions ensure you answer the scenario based questions completely before moving on.  

If you find yourself feeling stressed or stiff during a test stop for a moment and do some quick stretches.

  • Lock your hands together, with your palms up, and stretch your arms over your head - this stretches your hands and arms and shoulders
  • Let your arms dangle at your sides and gently shake them
  • Roll your head from side to side to stretch and relax your neck
  • Many people get nervous before a test. Loosen up and breathe.
